Wizard of Aus
If you're expecting to see many cool pics of my trip to Aus then boy, ur gonna be disappointed.
Anyway, here goes...
Departure date: 6th March. Woke up early cos of my Intro to Comp final exam. Every1 was like super stressed by the exam, my buds n i had one of those pre-exam cramming sessions. Then, we entered "The Room" ... 2 hrs l8tr, it was all over. My first semester was all over..and as usual, there was all the post-exam worries but i felt pretty confident. In fact, i was smirking all the way back home on the train, much to the annoyance of the KTM gang of course.
Unlike many ppl, who waste an 8 hr flight by sleeping, i chose to waste that time by watching movies. I watched Bicentennial Man, Bee Movie and Juno. I found the latter film to be highly enjoyable. Ellen Page was really amazing in this movie. In my opinion, her acting was friggin' sweet and pretty solid..to put it in their colourful language.
The 1st thing to catch my eye upon arrival was their sweet HDTV set. A HDTV hooked up to a Xbox 360, a Mac Mini with internet connection, a Wii and a surround sound audio system. In layman's terms, it rocks out loud! In surround sound of course. The downside of this is dat u gotta hv a minimum IQ of 80 just to figure out how to work the remote. Spent the rest of the day in front of the idiot box. At the end of the day, i realised i hadn't slept for the past 39 hrs...but with so much to do, who's got time to sleep?
I pity ppl back home who think J.Co is the lightest, sweetest, best doughnut there is. Pah! Krispy Kreme make J.Co taste like Dunkin' Doughnuts. KK is like super light, any lighter and it'd be classified as cotton candy.
Besides hving a blast, one of my main reason for coming to Aus was to check out my potential future uni, the University of Technology, Sydney. This was the uni my uncle went to and he's doing quite well now, he got a Porsche 911 to prove it. Hopefully going there will allow me to own a Porsche as well.
Naturally, i had imagined a tech uni to look sci-fi, cool , state-of-the-art and all that and driving past other uni's like UNSW really built up my expectations...till i saw the UTS building...the student uni guide/mag's advice wasn't particularly helpful (pic on the left). Grandad described the UTS building as "the ugliest building in the city". My apologies to current UTS ppl but seriously don't u hv architecture students or sumtin? Fortunately, i found out that that wasn't my campus...phew. My campus was way cooler and was what i expected. It's even got a cool sounding name... the Fairfax Building..ok maybe not that cool but it certainly beats saying UTS building 10. Unfortunately i dun hv a pic so just wiki it.
Besides that, ntg much happened. Most days we went shopping. My Dad and I ended up buying a ton of chocs for friends and colleagues. I wonder if my dad's colleagues hounded him for chocs like some of my friends did. We bought like 3 suitcases full of just chocs. However, there was one day where my dad and i went on a book binge. It's like a shopping binge except u visit bookshops instead of boutiques..this may sound alien to some of u but to me and dad, it's prime bonding time. Did u noe dat in Syd, they've got a huge 3-storey bookshop. This is how i noe Syd is my kind of city.
On my 8hr flight back i watched Frequency, an episode of Ugly Betty (sux), 2 episodes of House (sarcasm is funny) and Juno again. I really recommend watchin this movie more than once. The first time i watched it i had a little trouble understanding their colloquialisms.
Ps: did i mention dat i had 8 boxes of Tic Tac? add that to the 4 i had yesterday would make 12 boxes in 5 days.
Well, dat's all for now. Enjoy it. You'll prob be seeing this repeatedly for the next few weeks.
