1st day of College
Today i took a bold step into a new chapter of my life story, today was my first day in Taylor's College! Unfortunately, i got lost.
As usual, i made an effort to arrive early so i arrived at the campus at around 7.15am, only to find out that i was too early and had to wait till 9am. So i had to wander around aimlessly trying to kill time. Luckily i met Sarah and her mom who managed to make the wait less boring. Then we met up with Jit Hua (he's also taking the same course as me) and finally Peh Xin Yi. Then at 9, we were all herded to the Multi-Purpose Hall to listen to the welcome speech and other talks...boooring!!! The talks lasted till around 12-ish. Lunch was quite a different experience from SSG's. In SSG, i would usually take a look at the food lose my appetite. It's expensive and tastes like cold, disgusting, leftovers...because it is cold, disgusting, leftovers!! In Taylor's I was suddenly thrust into an environment where i had soooo many choices...so wat did i order you ask? A burger.
New resolution: To try every stall by the time i leave.
The fun really started after lunch, we had this team building activity. Had quite a lot of fun till i remembered that i wasn't in some holiday camp but in college. 1st we played a game where we had to line up according to our birthdates but we weren't allowed to speak to each other.
Next we were separated into groups (our group was named No Name, courtesy of Sarah) and had to grab these coloured balls from a middle ring and put them into our team's ring. We also have to steal balls from other teams to get as many balls as possible. Obviously with a game as competitive as this, someone's bound to get hurt in the mayhem. Unluckily for Sarah, she was the only one who suffered any injury in the form of a broken fingernail.
Then we were given kindergarten-level ABC jigsaw puzzles which we had to assemble without speaking to each other. Not much of a challenge for a group college students right? Wrong! The pieces were all mixed up with other groups' pieces so we had to run around trying to ask around for the right pieces without speaking.
Last but not least, we played a game called Trust. 3 small groups had to combine into 1 big group and each member had to be carried through a hula hoop suspended a good 5 feet from the ground. Obviously i was one of the first to be carried through. Fortunately, most of the heavy ones were on the other team. Still, most of the time our hula hoop broke whenever we get someone through.
Today was really fun, just wish college will be this fun everyday.
